In homage to whichever gods are responsible for the zany February weather we have been experiencing as of late, this week’s De Sastre, too, is basking in the warm sunshine. Instead of frost we have flowers, and oh how the Reedies have bloomed! Especially Della Green, whose personal affinity for the pastoral pairs pleasantly with her pantalones. Green’s statement pants are colored a pretty pistachio pastel with rose details that nicely complement the palette. While other Reedies are busy pondering Miami style, Green’s home country the Dominican Republic is always on her mind. She’s a perfect example of Jean Cocteau’s aphorism, “style is a simple way of saying complicated things.” Until next time, no sports bra, let’s keep it bouncing, xoxo Gossip Girl
Bare Legs & New Beginnings
After a brief hiatus we’re back with more bad puns and aesthetically awesome apparel. This week we saw several Reedies braving the cold climate for cute fashion. Tyler Allen ’17 offset this basic look of her taupe turtleneck with her scarlet Scottish skirt and canary yellow backpack. Juliette Tripier ’18 and Maddie Mintz ’16 remixed the schoolgirl vibe by donning knee socks along with their skirts. In an early welcome to spring, Tripier paired her black velvet skirt with a knit sweater patterned with daisies. Mintz magnificently mixed and matched a maroon coat with her otherwise grayscale outfit. We be creepin on the streets of Reed, yo, so think of us as you get dress for the day each morning ;
Resting on his Laurels
Enrique Montygierd '14 can be seen wearing this week's latest accessory, the golden headband, normally referred to by its street name, "Laurels." The contrast of our Don Juan's Latin locks against his impressive new shiny hat demonstrates that this year's seniors are both smart and sexy. Our fashion maven keeps the rest of his outfit simple, yet bold, with his red hot tamale trousers. Wowza! Like Enrique, AA and MUK will be away from Reed next semester. Make sure to be on the lookout for Melissa Boettner ’16 and Alex McGrath '16 to snap your outfits in the fall! Best of luck! -AA & MUK
W.W.A.W.?
Alex McGrath ’16 knows the style of our favorite Hum rockstar! Offset by khaki trousers, Alex’s outfit daringly demonstrates the classic Roman hero’s festive flare for floral. Don’t be naive enough to think that either Alex or Aeneas is all flower power! Beneath the flower patterned bomber lies a checkered button down, with fluorescent hues of magenta, electric blue, and lime green. But Alex beats Aeneas with his shoe game! Unlike Aeneas’ second-rate sandals, Alex dons prestigious purple sassy suede opulent Oxfords. Alex knows better than Aeneas when it comes to “classical” fashion.
Best of luck with end of semester stress!

Classy Leopard
Cheetah girls, cheetah sistahs? Since one half of De Sastre hails from New Jersey, there is nothing more appreciated than a subtle use of leopard print for a change. Melissa Boettner leans more towards runway than Raven Baxter dressed in her classy Zara leopard print geometric sweatshirt paired with an understated leather skirt. Cerulean & Smiles
International Comparative Panache Studies
With applications to the language houses due this Friday, we decided to help promote interest by broadcasting the language scholars’ fashion. Whether you have a conversation class or have merely passed them in Commons, here are Matías Oviedo and Anna Amelyanchik. Matías is the Spanish House Scholar from Córdoba, Argentina and Anna is the Russian House Scholar from outside of St. Petersburg, Russia. Both in collared pale blue buttoned downs beneath either a colorful scarf or a puppy sweater, Mathías and Anna have clean and seemingly effortless style. To see the outfits’ details and more of the scholars, visit our website dosdesastres. blogspot.com.
Socks to Beat the Weather
Last week’s winter wonderland left some Reedies wondering what to wear. Not Sasha Jones ‘16, inspired by her Bordeaux socks, she coordinated her lips and sweater to match her cozy fashionable feet. Craving some color? Check out our blog, dosdesastres.blogspot.com for the full color photo of Sasha and another Reedie dressed stylishly for the cold!
Dressing Up & Down
We are Alexis Angulo ’16 and Mia Uribe Kozlovsky ’16. We’re starting column focused on Reedie fashion. As you’ve probably observed, Reedies tend to be eclectic in their fashion choices and usually can’t be found in your typical collegiate sweatpants and Ugg boots. So if you see us around, tell us whaddup, and we’ll be happy to take your picture and hear the story about what you chose to put on your body today. Have fun deciphering why we called it “De Sastre,” and we can’t wait to see you in two weeks.
