Dear reader,

With Renn Fayre starting on the theme of Surrealist Soiree, we turn to our theme of Avant-Garden Party for the fourth and final issue of the Grail’s Volume XIX and the final issue for Spring 2024! Fall with us through Reedies’ ruminations on romance, religion, and ranches. (Okay, there are no ranches, but hear us out: ‘garden’ doesn’t have any good ‘r-’ synonyms. No one ruminated on rockeries.)

We have poetry from AW, who provides a window into the different types of love you can feel for someone (8). We have poetry from Helen, who turns The Quest’s “Touch Grass” into beautiful blackout poetry (1). We have submissions from Adrian Keller Feld, whose photo of her handmade dress (made of several issues of The Quest) is our cover, and whose prose goes into the melancholy feeling of being fourteen on a hot, sunny day (3).

Our next issue won’t be until next school year, so write to whatever theme you desire over the summer, and hopefully it fits whatever we do next! Until then, check out our website at reedthegrail.org to absorb our past issues while you wait. Farewell for now, and best tidings to all for finals!

XOXO,
